Montañitaaaaaa..... Yes, that is the exact reaction I have when I talk about this amazing party town. When here in this town, you definitely are already well prepared for the 'Loco energy' that will infect you as soon as you enter the streets. On weekends, this place gets crazy crowded and I suggest come either Fri evening or early Sat morning to make sure you get a place to stay and don't end up sleeping on the beach ;).
Since we reached early Sat morning we had our pick of the hostel and the kind of room we wanted. We could afford to be choosy and reject rooms as well, which trust me is a luxury in itself. Most of the accommodations in Montañita cater for back packers and hence instead of rooms, you are paying for beds.
In case you are a couple, there are few hotels here as well but the true fun of enjoying the spirit of this place, is by living in these hostels. So we took a room with three beds(paid a little extra but well worth the hostel experience).
Our hotel/hostel which also had an amazing restaurant attached was called- TIKI LIMBO. Situated on the main street, where all the cocktail shacks, and street artists perform in the evening, we were very happy with our choice.
We in fact met a number of tourists from different countries while playing a game of snooker. One can also relax in the mornings or afternoons of the comfy, colorful hammocks with a great book to read and a cocktail to sip along.(pure bliss as per me).
The staff is very courteous as well. In fact,the first room given to us had some issue with the AC, and when we told the staff they apologized and immediately shifted us to another one.
This room had a cute tree house kinda room attached to the main room where one bed was placed on the top of a wooden staircase. Reminded me of my childhood dream of always owning a tree house of my own :).
I will definitely take back sweet memories from this place.So, take my suggestion and try this place when next in Montañita.
